There are numerous applications in meteorological and environmental sciences where it is desirable to measure the temperature of the atmosphere in the 10.000 m closest to the ground, the so-called Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL). The MTP-5 system are based on state-of-the-art microwave technology and has been specially developed for real-time measurements of the PBL. 

It was important that the systems provide reliable data for all weather condition, calibrate automatically and require no maintenance or operator.

The air temperature profilers of the MTP series are based on the many years of experience of the company IfU GmbH in the field of metrology development, the development of electronics and software, and others. The company R.P.O. ATTEX is specialized in the field of environmental analysis,  electronics and software development, metrology and environmental analysis.

For more than 15 years, both companies have had experience worldwide in the development and use of this modern measurement technology, which was developed at the highest level with German and Russian research institutes.

The MTP-5 system has been used for many years, e.g. proven in the (urban) air quality measurement, the atmospheric monitoring at airports, many research projects at universities and the prediction of weather / fog many times.
